There's No Business Like SNOW Business....
Meanwhile, since I am lucky enough not to have to travel, I wanted to show how beautifully peaceful it is around my home. We have both our feeders full of good stuff for our bird and squirrel friends, and the feeders are extremely well attended. Of course, when I try to take a picture, they all run away! You can see a few birds hanging around to help themselves to the smorgasbord.
We also have a couple of female Anna's hummingbirds here, and I can't believe they haven't traveled to California or Mexico for the winter like the rest of the hummers that breed here during the summer do. According to our local wildlife bird shop, these particular hummers don't fly south for the winter. I have two feeders ready and switch feeders after a few hours, so the poor girls aren't drinking freezing cold sugar water. I am terribly worried about them, but they must know what they're doing - I hope! Here's one of the girls, puffed up to keep warm and conserving energy.
The Man went out this morning and took these photos. Our snow covered house in its Christmas finery:
The side yard, with a view of the gazebo and the frozen waterfall:
I love this picture! You are looking at the stairs going down the hill from the house to the street. Can you see them? LOL!
Inside, where all is warm and cozy, this is the view from the skylights in my sewing room:
I have been busy working on Christmas gifties, and I thought I would show a few. I decided to make it a "baggy" Christmas this year, and have had such fun doing it! Nanette at Freda's Hive wrote a post a month or so ago about these adorable fabric bags and showed what she had created, and then Darlene at Quilting Daze made a whole bunch of them. It stuck in my fuzzy little head, and I thought I would try my hand at creating some, too.
I made the bags the size of whatever gift was going in them, and used my stash of Christmas fabrics. I want to make MORE, I enjoyed it sew much!
This pic I took yesterday morning while the snow was coming down. I hope you can see the flakes falling.
Since our home goes by the name Doxie Manor, I must show how busy the doxies are these days. Maddy and Gracie "helping" me in the sewing room:
Alert Miss Lucy supervising from the chair next to the tree:
The girls also were "assisting" The Man (Doggy Daddy) wrap gifts! They were mesmerized by this FurReal kitty that's for our granddaughter. You wave your hand in front of the cat's eyes, and she meows, blinks, turns her head and purrs. Gracie thought it was the Real Thing, that's for sure! Here they are trying to get at that cat! Gracie actually bit the corner of the box a couple of times - hopefully, the teeth marks aren't noticeable.
Doesn't Gracie look like she's saying "Let that darn cat out of the box NOW!"? She was very excited!
My to do list is almost finished - must be all that 4-legged "help"! The house is decorated (even the boxes are put away), and most of the presents have been created, wrapped and mailed. Now all I have to do is finish sewing 2 gifts and wrap presents for friends and family who live close by.
I hope you are all enjoying this holiday season with your friends and loved ones. Happy Thursday, everybodee!!
